If you are looking for grappling near Sotogrande, Manilva or Sabinillas, La Forja Martial Arts offers no-gi grappling at Calle Galileo, 28, Estepona. Beginner and general groups are available, coaching can be followed in English or Spanish, and the first confirmed group trial is free.

What you train at La Forja

The programme covers takedowns, positional control, guard work, escapes and submissions. Grappling classes do not include strikes. You can train grappling as a discipline in its own right or combine it with MMA and kickboxing through the unlimited membership.

Is it grappling or BJJ?

La Forja teaches grappling without the gi. It shares many positions and submissions with no-gi BJJ, but does not rely on fabric grips and connects directly with the wrestling and ground-fighting phases of MMA. Read the detailed grappling and BJJ comparison.

Choose a group for your level

A complete beginner first needs to learn how to fall, move, breathe under pressure and recognise the main positions. Grappling Basics runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 20:00. General sessions run Monday and Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:00 and Tuesday and Thursday at 19:00.

Test the real journey

La Forja has one gym, in Estepona; it does not claim branches in Sotogrande, Manilva or Sabinillas. Before choosing a membership, calculate the outward and return journey from your usual starting point and test it on the day and at the time you would normally train.

Group classes or private coaching

Group classes provide different training partners and a consistent weekly routine. A private session can help when you need individual attention, an agreed time or focused work on one area. The free trial applies to the first confirmed group; private coaching is paid and booked separately.

Quick answer: beginners are welcome, coaching is available in English and Spanish, and you can choose one-discipline membership, unlimited training or a day pass. Always confirm the group before travelling.
