The first class helps a child meet the coach, the group and the rules of the mats. They do not have to prove anything: the goal is to take part, feel safe and want to return.
Before stepping onto the mats
The coach asks about any injury or need and explains where to leave belongings. Comfortable sportswear and water are enough for a trial.
What happens during class?
- Games and exercises for coordination, balance and attention.
- Stance, footwork and basic strikes.
- Partner work with clear rules for care and respect.
- A final challenge adapted to the group’s age and level.
Is there contact on the first day?
No. Learning is progressive. Technique, control and safe habits come first, and partner tasks are adapted to each child.
What can families observe?
Some children may feel shy or watch before joining in. What matters is that they understand instructions, respect turns and gradually become involved.
After the class
Ask what exercise they enjoyed and how they felt rather than whether they were “good” or “bad”. Confidence grows through repetition.
