You do not need to be fit or know how to fight before starting MMA. A good beginner class teaches safe movement, basic positions and steady progress without expecting you to keep up with a competitor.

What do you train in MMA?

Mixed martial arts combines striking, takedowns and ground fighting. Beginners do not try to learn everything at once. You work on one situation, practise with a partner and add difficulty as your control improves.

What your first class looks like

  1. Useful warm-up: mobility and movements connected to the session.
  2. Technical explanation: the coach breaks the action into repeatable steps.
  3. Controlled practice: you work with a partner at a suitable intensity.
  4. Application: drills with progressive resistance according to your level.

Do I have to spar?

No, not in your first class. Sparring is a training tool, not a test of courage. Defence, control and confidence come first.

What should I bring?

Clean sportswear, a T-shirt, water and flip-flops for walking off the mats are enough. You do not need to buy gloves or protective equipment before trying the class.

How often should I train?

Two sessions per week give you continuity and enough recovery. You can add a third session or combine MMA with kickboxing and grappling as your body adapts.

At La Forja: MMA Basics runs on Tuesday and Thursday at 18:00, with general classes in the morning and evening.

The best way to decide

Try a class and notice whether the coach explains clearly, partners train with control and you leave understanding something new. Your first class at La Forja is free.
